Introducing Scholastic Gateway: Scholastic Esports Without the Corporate Playbook.

Scholastic Gateway today announced the launch of its independent, student-led esports competition for middle schools and high schools nationwide. Created by the founders of the High School Esports League and Middle School Esports League, Scholastic Gateway was built to provide students with meaningful opportunities to compete, represent their schools, and connect with their peers through esports.
The launch comes at a time when many schools, educators, and students are dissatisfied with the direction of the scholastic esports industry. Inconsistent experiences, shifting priorities, and uncertainty across the industry have made it more difficult for schools to know which organizations they can trust to deliver dependable opportunities for their students.
Scholastic Gateway was created as a direct response to those concerns. Its mission is to rebuild trust by placing students and schools at the center of every decision and providing a reliable, accessible competition experience focused on participation, community, and opportunity.
“It was never just about esports. It has always been about students,” said Mason Mullenioux, CEO of Scholastic Gateway. “Scholastic esports should create opportunities for students to compete, belong, lead, and represent their schools. We are applying everything we learned while building HSEL and MSEL to create something that better reflects what students and educators need from this industry.”
Annual membership costs $500 per school, giving participating schools access to Scholastic Gateway competitions throughout the membership year, along with exclusive offerings from select partners. The membership model is designed to provide schools with a clear and affordable way to offer organized esports opportunities and additional benefits to their students.
High school competitions will include Apex Legends TDM, Brawlhalla, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Chess, GeoGuessr, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Madden NFL 26, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Splatoon 3, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and VALORANT.
Through its competitions, Scholastic Gateway will give students of different backgrounds, interests, and skill levels the opportunity to represent their schools and participate in a community built around their experience. The organization will work directly with schools nationwide to create an environment that is transparent, dependable, and responsive to the needs of students and educators.
